Empowered Youth 2012

Our church went on its annual trip out to Fairhaven Baptist College's Empowered Youth meetings. The Saturday before we left, Megan came and spent the night with me. We spent the day putting up our huge Christmas tree.

 Then we made hot chocolate.

After the hot chocolate, Megan & I played Life.
 It was . . . interesting.

We woke up bright & early on Sunday morning to go to church. We only had about 2 or 3 hours sleep.

We left the church at 5:30. We went to Pittsburg to Pastor Mongomery's church. Pastor Chris and Pastor Bill both preached and our group sang twice.

On the way to EY, Julia read us some of her English homework:  The Scarlet Letter.
Also on the way out and back, we played Pastor Bill's and Ms. Jenny's version of Food Network's "Chopped." We split our 2 vans into 4 teams of 4 people each. It was sooo much fun trying to see who could come up with the best dish!  My team made it into the final round but sadly, (big sigh) we didn't win.

On Monday night of EY, we all went to and indoor soccer arena and bowling alley.

On Tuesday, we had the 5-on-5 Girl's Volleyball Tournament.  My team played our first game against Pleasantville, who we beat by the required 2 points.  The second game we lost, forfeiting our chances at the championship :(

On Wednesday, we had the Bible Quizzing competition.  Our team consisted of the 4 seniors in our church: me, Alyssa, Koreena, and Jared.

Our team won the competition and we went our to dinner in a limo!

That day we also had individual competitions in storytelling, instrumentals, and vocal solos and ensembles.

Alyssa competed in violin.

Charity competed in vocal solo.

Julia competed in storytelling.
Which she placed first in!!!

Others we knew were competing also.

Adam Murdock preached and played his violin.
Wilson Monahan played his cello.
And Davey Bottrell played the piano.
On Wednesday night, we had Becca a birthday party since her birthday was that coming Saturday.

On Thursday, we went into Chicago. We had to play a game where we took pictures of our team doing different things.

Decorating Chicago for Christmas

Building a 6-person pyramid was one of the requirements for the game

The mall in Chicago.

Another requirement for the game: someone aka. me had to kiss a mannequin.

Playing Christmas music on the streets on Chicago.

That night we had a game night before everyone had to leave. There was a mechanical bull, a velcro wall, a bunch of Wiis, a basketball competition, volleyball, and a bunch of other fun things.

On Friday morning, we took pictures together down by the lake.

West Virginia

On Thursday, I left to go to W. Virginia to visit my family.
I took a few pictures on the way there.

This is at Candyland. This little store has over 800 types of candy!

 This is at Bridge Day.

People jump off the New River Gorge Bridge with parachutes.

Eating at Sweet Frog after we left Bridge Day. Yum!!
